I am an assistant professor of dental hygiene at Rhodes State College in Lima, Ohio, where I teach both didactic and clinical courses such as: Preventive Concepts, Preclinic, Clinic, and Oral Pathology. In addition, I am the Infection Control Manager and Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Dental Hygiene Program. I have held these full-time faculty responsibilities for ten years.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene from West Liberty State College (now University), West Virginia, in 1977. I practiced full time as a clinical hygienist for 24 years in general dentistry practices. In 2001, I earned a Master of Business Administration from The University of Findlay.
I am a member of several professional groups including, The American Dental Hygienists’ Association, The Ohio Dental Hygienists’ Association, and The Northwestern Ohio Dental Hygienists’ Association. Currently, I am President-Elect of The American Academy of Dental Hygiene, having served previously as Chair of the Finance Committee, and Treasurer.
I have two grown daughters. My oldest is a Registered Nurse who works Labor and Delivery at a small local area hospital. My youngest daughter is a Licensed Clinical Therapist who treats children at a large metropolitan hospital. I have a thirteen year old grandson who is the apple of my eye! He is a Boy Scout, trumpeter in the band, and plays soccer. I love to attend his events to support him!
